So far so good...

My endevour to quit smoking is coming along nicesly. The withdraws are still terrible but I think I can make it now. I just have to be careful at work when I'm around those who smoke.

We usually have the power to forget about bad events in our lives. Take smoking as a bad thing happened in your life and you want to forget about it. That might help.

I found alot of interesting subjects on smoking and how bad it's for you. I smoke too, for 28 years. I am going to quit soon. Maybe in the next week. Im doing a report of it for my applied communications class. I'll post it on my blog when its ready. Good luck, smoking is easy to do, quiting is harder, drink lots of water as well, exercising too helps get the phlem out from all the years of smoking. WHen you cough, thats' your lungs saying for the old stuff and mucus to get out. Its all healthy to cough it out. My report will be soon,

I am bipolar too and I just quit smoking about 6 months ago. I used the patch and that worked for me, but I really wanted to quit. I had gone for a stress test (you know, the thing on the treadmill?) and they got me going really fast. I am used to the treadmill from the gym, but this was uphill and they were getting my heartrate up pretty quickly. The nurse asked me how I was doing, and I said, "My calfs hurt." She said that people who smoke have their calfs hurt. I realized at that point that I was ruining my body. So three days later I quit. I think you need a scare or for something to REALLY sink in to quit. I'm always tempted to start up again, but I haven't.

I know it's harder to do this when you are bipolar, because you want to reach for something when you aren't feeling great.

Just hang in there -- you can do it!
